Selasian wood - Cinnamomum parthenoxylon

This tree originally from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam. In Malaysia, it is on the parties highland.All the smell of the plants of the lemongrass. All plant parts contain geraniol, especially in fruits. The alkaloid-tetanin Lauro is present in the bark in small quantities, and in smaller amounts in the leaves, making them slightly toxic

Botanical name: - Cinnamomum parthenoxylon (Jack) Meisner.
Cinnamomum parthenoxylon known in English as Selasian wood Saffrol Laurel, or as camphor wood Martaban. He exceeded the heterotypic synonym Laurus porrecta (Roxb.). The species name derives from parthenoxylon parthenos xylon, which means "virgin wood." The common name is Spanish is alcanforero amarillo (in English: "yellow camphor") and is thought to be the tree known in Khmer as Prew Phnom mreah. It is an evergreen tree in the genus Cinnamomum. It is originally from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam. In Vietnam, the tree is considered critically endangered.
The tree has gray to brown bark. Its leaves are bright green oval a 7-10 cm long with a point at the end. Like many plants in the laurel family, the leaves emit a pleasant smell when crushed. The flowers appear in clusters and are green and very small businesses. The fruits are drupes black.
Bark: 
On young trees, the bark is red. Older tree has gray to brown bark. The oil of the bark contain 8 percent citral, 10 percent of citronella.

Sheets:

Its leaves are bright green oval a 7-10 cm long with a point at the end. Like many plants in the laurel family, the leaves emit a pleasant smell when crushed. The oil from the leaves contain 21 to 35 percent cineole with citral.
Flowers: 
The flowers appear in clusters and are green and very small businesses.
Fruits:The fruits are drupes the size of black pepper. The fruit contains from 64 to 75 percent of citral
Uses:
  • Cinnamomum parthenoxylon was reported to be effective in reducing diabetes through its antioxidant activity and insulin pontentiating.
  • The seeds and bark are used in Java to make cosmetic powders.
  • The roots are used to tenderize meat.
  • Fruit can be a substitute Cubeb pepper (Piper cubeba), or Virginia, is a plant in the genus Piper, cultivated for its fruit and essential oil.
  • The plant contains safrole (safrole), a key ingredient in the manufacture of MDMA psychoactive drugs.
  • The bark has been shown in rats to a possible treatment for hyperglycemia (high blood sugar usually associated with diabetes).
  • Cinnamomum parthenoxylon was reported to be effective in reducing diabetes through its antioxidant activity and insulin pontentiating.
